Photography in general has been a part of my life for over 35 years now, and in that time I have photographed people, pets, wildlife, landscapes, products, abstracts, close-ups, and just about anything that might come to mind, but my real passion has always been photographing Weddings. I have always enjoyed watching people and their reactions to things in life. What could be better for a Photographer like me then to capture all the happiness and emotions that a wedding
provides. From the parents seeing their children leaving the nest, from the Groom’s first sight of his new Bride walking down the aisle, from the Bride’s reaction to their first kiss, to the celebration of their special day. Photography is a “Moment in time”, captured in a fraction of a second!
I believe a wedding photographer should be invisible, only noticed when necessary. I believe this allows me to capture the emotions and reactions naturally without the posed look, but at the same time knowing when to step in to get the natural look when need be. A successful wedding photographer needs to be organized, prepared, attentive, and fun to work with. He must be able to handle stress well and deal with situations that always arrive at the worst time. A successful Wedding Photographer needs to be a problem solver.
I’m just a regular person, professional and fun to work with. It’s my goal to make a Bride’s day as fun and stress free as it can be. I have always worked to keep pace with the modern advances of photo imaging. To do so requires today’s photographers to do their homework. I am mostly self taught, the only real formal training I have had was during high school, but by keeping up with magazines, on-line forums and blogs, and attending so many seminars that I’ve lost count, I am able to stay in step with the advances in technology and the new styles in wedding photography. Having a passion for what you do is the best teacher, it motivates you to be the best you can be!
I have done work for companies such as Mini Cooper and Cadillac, covering events that they have had for their customers, as well has being the Indiana Statehouse Photographer for a number of years. In that time, I have had the opportunity to photograph such legends as Purdue’s former basketball coach Gene Cady, football star Peyton Manning, Golf greats Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, and Tiger Woods, the Mayor of Munchkinville from the movie “The Wizard of Oz”, and Sean Austin, star of the movies “Rudy” and “Lord of the Rings”.
